La Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana Municipal de Tijuana lamentó el fallecimiento del bombero Omar Martínez García, quien sufrió un accidente en el cumplimiento de su deber.
Omar pertenecía a la séptima generación de la Academia de Bomberos y trabajaba en la Estación Central desde hace aproximadamente un año.
El bombero, que seguía los pasos de su padre, un bombero retirado, acudió el jueves por la tarde con su equipo a un llamado de auxilio en la iglesia la Luz del Mundo ubicada en la colonia Libertad parte baja.
Ahí intentaba rescatar a un hombre que quería suicidarse arrojándose desde la cúpula del templo, sin embargo, al subir al techo del inmueble el bombero cayó de una altura de más de 30 metros.
Luego de esto, Omar fue trasladado en estado crítico al Hospital General donde momentos más tarde fue confirmado su fallecimiento.
Los detalles del accidente aun no están del todo claros, pero el hombre que intentó quitarse la vida y que estaba bajo el influjo de sustancias fue arrestado.
La SSPCM recordó la pasión y jovialidad de Omar, la cual será recordada por cada uno de sus compañeros.
La Dirección de Bomberos de Tijuana envió sus condolencias a familiares y amigos de uno de sus mejores elementos.
